Assessing personal goals in regards to money, savings, or other numerical guidance in mind is not vain, selfish, nor self-seeking, rather just the mechanisms for honest evaluation.
The size of the goal, from a numerical sense, is neither vain or spiritual. It just is. What makes our goals self-seeking is our intent.
Systems are more of a practical means to gaining insight to our effectiveness. The most threatened principle of ministry is effectiveness. Often ministries effectiveness is threatened internally than externally. Refusal to take a true evaluation of effectiveness staggers many. Relying on feelings, whims, sidebar comments, and other non-substantive evaluation can never reveal true effectiveness. Be well informed of your effectiveness by tracking the hard, real numbers associated with your systems and God honoring success will be prevalent. Pray and trust God for answers but do not forget the facts. Faith and reason are only at odds when we are not honest with our findings.
